In this FREE 90 minute workshop, we'll explore how the purpose of the PhD dissertation or thesis shapes how and where we need to discuss existing scholarship. We'll discuss the strengths, weaknesses, and appropriateness of beads-on-a-string approaches to discussing scholarship, and practice finding ways to integrate and draw links between studies. Finally, we'll discuss strategies for literally writing about literature: how to position yourself, draw contrasts, and critique work appropriately. This workshop does not require any substantive expertise or knowledge; it is appropriate for PhD students of all disciplines. The hands-on and interactive approach means that an after-the-fact recording will not be offered to respect the privacy of participants. Use code FREEWS to register for free.
